I'm customizing the main character's sprite from this asset pack. I've decided to start by following the workflow used to generate the character with AI, then move on to drawing the pixel art. I think this is the best approach because it's challenging to create pixel art first and then try to generate a character that matches the colors and shape of the sprite. My plan is to follow this process for any future characters, as it feels like an efficient way to quickly build up some illustrations to represent the characters.

In the future, it might be a good idea to replace the AI illustrations with my own, even if it means lowering the portrait quality a bit. However, for now, I want to focus on the pixel art and tilesets. Still, I'm pretty sure it would be beneficial to take any portrait I draw myself and use it to train a LoRA model, as I'm not skilled at drawing NSFW content and just want to design the characters.

The advantage of this approach is that, even if I draw a character in anime style, with a bit of training, it can be adapted to hyperrealism or even a primitive pixel art style. This allows for experimenting with different resources and aesthetics. Does pixel art look good with anime? Or does a hyperrealistic character suit the background? These are all decisions that placeholders can help explore.

Regarding the next steps for the asset pack, I’m focused on creating a mini toolkit that’s sufficient for making a short game inspired by the theme of the pack… a funeral. Of course, everyone is free to use these assets however they like; I'll be drawing interiors of a house, probably a small cemetery, and some sprites specifically depicting mourning. That said, creativity is limitless, so if anyone wants to create something more focused on a family vacation or another direction entirely, I’d love to see it! I’m offering these assets with the hope that others will find flexible ways to make them their own.
